TMS320F28388D: Hardware errors trigger NMI

Hello,

The reference manual says there are several hardware errors that can trigger NMI, as shown in the picture.

Does the "hardware error" mean the hardware is defect? Are all the errors mentioned in the section originated from hardware defect?

Hi,

Yes, these are hardware defect but some of them could be soft error as well which could get introduce due to noise or EMI and may not be permanent defect.

Like memory bit cell is permanently stuck to 0 or 1 or some analog channel has permanent fault dur to EOS (electric overstress).

Do Flash correctable error exceeds threshold and RAM correctable error exceeds threshold belong to the HW defect? Basically we are trying to identify what are the HW defect errors.

It depends. If the error is at some fix location and happens all the time then it could be related to HW defect. In general if you are getting so many correctable errors then it could be due to improper operating condition of the device.
