protection ADC module for TMS320F28027

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28027

We plan to use external voltage reference of ADC module(3V). Do we need surge protection for analog input pin of TMS320F28027, in case input of analog pin exceed voltage reference of ADC module (3V)? DO ti have app note about surge protection for TMS320F28027?

  • MD,

I'm not exactly sure what you are meaning here; but I will assume you mean overvoltage protection for the analog input pins.  This is talked about in the electrical section of the data sheet at the beginning of that section.

The 28027 ADC has a native conversion range of 0-3.3V; but it looks like you will use the external reference to cap this to 3V.  Even in this mode the VDDA voltage is what you need to be concerned with violating; either with the ADCREFHI input on the analog inputs themselves.

Do you have an idea of how much you could exceed the VDDA votlage in your system?

    Best,

    Matthew,

yes I mean over voltage. We concern if input of analog pin exceed voltage reference of ADC module (3V) and more than Vddio(3.3V) example 4V( 3.3+0.7V in case BAV99 pull to Vddio)? ADC module & AIO damage or not?

    Thanks,

    Best
