TMS320F280025C: Motor control SDK general project and laboratory level 4 incremental build project

Part Number: TMS320F280025C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8323, BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH, BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS

Hi,I encountered the following issues in my incremental build project with F280025C+DRV8323RH.I hope you can answer it for me.

Q1:According to section 2.5.4.3 of the Motor Control SDK General Project and Lab User Guide,it requires me to connect to 220v AC.Should I connect it directly to drv8323?

Q2:Why can't I search userParams.flag_bypassMotorId in the project, according to section 2.5.4.3 of the Motor Control SDK General Project and Lab User Guide?

Thank you for any help!

  • Sorry,I have one more question.

Q3:According to section 2.2.4 of the Motor Control SDK General Project and Lab User Guide,it required me to add a 47nF capacitor to the C9, C10, and C11 to support InstaSPIN-FOC.I have connected 47nF 16V capacitor as required, can I supply 24v to drv8323?

    Kind regards,

    johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

Q1: The 220V AC should not be directly connected to the DRV8323RH (maximum supply voltage of 65V DC), this is a typo and will be fixed in an upcoming release. Section 3.2.9 of the Universal Motor Control Project and Lab User's Guide says "Connect a supply voltage ranging from 6 to 40 V from a battery or a DC voltage source to the voltage supply pins as shown in Figure 3-10. The maximum supply voltage rating for the BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH is 65V, so care must be taken to ensure that the voltage does not exceed this value during operation."

Q2: Can you clarify what you mean here? This value is set within the sys_main.c file.

Q3: I am communicating with the proper expert to answer this.

    Thank you for your patience,

    Skyler

  • Hi Skyler,

Q1:I skipped steps 1-7 of Section 2.5.4.3, modified the relevant parameters of the motor myself, and now started the motor.

Q2;According to the User Guide, Section 2.5.4.3, Step 3, requires me to change the value of userParams.flag_bypassMotorId. I didn't find it yesterday, and as explained in Q1, I skipped it, so now there are no problems.

Now I have some problems again. I hope you can help me.

Q4:The above operation I used is F280025C+DRV8323RH, now I want to use F2800157+DRV8323RH, but the official routine does not have this configuration, only F2800157+DRV8323RS routine, May I ask how to modify the driver code now? There are some tutorials in the user manual, but I'm still not sure if there is a more detailed tutorial.

    Thank you for your help!

    Kind regards,

    johnny

  • Hi Skyler,

Regarding Q4, if there is no tutorial available, can you give me any ideas on how to change the driver code?

    Kind regards,

    johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

Q4: There is no guide for switching from DRV8323RS -> DRV8323RH. The UMCL project for F280013x has support for both DRV8323RS and DRV8323RH, so I recommend comparing the differences between the two F280013x configurations and making similar changes to create a DRV8323RH config on F280015x.

    Kind regards,

    Skyler

  • Hi Skyler,

The UMCL project for F28002x has support for both DRV8323RS and DRV8323RH,so I compared the differences between the two F28002x configurations. But their code is very different, I now a little do not know how to do.Do I only need to pay attention to the gpio configuration?

    Kind regards,

    Johnny

  • Hi Skyler,

If you encounter this problem, what will you do first and then what will you do? Can you tell me in more detail? Thank you so much!

    Kind regards,

    Johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

Based on the difference I see in the DRV8323RH and DRV8323RS projects for F280013x, I would first make sure to copy the proper header and source files from the drv8323 directory to the project (SDK_ROOT/libraries/drvic/drv8323). Then, I would look at the differences defined in the hal.c file that check which DRV is being used. After that, I would continue to compare the differences and see which ones are relevant to the project you are developing.

    Kind regards,

    Skyler

  • Q3:According to section 2.2.4 of the Motor Control SDK General Project and Lab User Guide,it required me to add a 47nF capacitor to the C9, C10, and C11 to support InstaSPIN-FOC.I have connected 47nF 16V capacitor as required, can I supply 24v to drv8323?

    Hi Johnny,

R2, R3, and R4 on the BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS should be enough to drop the voltage low enough for a 16V rated capacitor to handle.

A good rule of thumb to follow is the capacitor rating should be two times the amount of voltage that is expected.

    Regards,

    Yara

  • Hi Skyler,

I'll try it first.Thank you very much for your help.

    Kind regards,

    Johnny

  • Hi Yara,

I don't have a capacitor with a higher rated voltage, I only have a 16v capacitor, so now I only dare to connect a 12v voltage source to drive a small motor.Do you mean that R2, R3, and R4 are sufficient to reduce the 24v voltage to within the range of the 16v capacitor?

    Kind regards,

    Johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

Yes R2, R3, and R4 are sufficient enough to reduce 24V to be within range of a 16V capacitor

    Regards,

    Yara

  • Hi Yara,

After receiving your positive reply, I increased the voltage to 24v to drive the 24v motor. But it can't start the motor properly.

My operation is as follows: I load the general motor control code of level4, automatically identify motor parameters through the program, then change the motor parameter value in "user_mtr1.h", and then load the program to start the motor.

The first time it waited a few seconds and it started successfully, but the second time it failed to start. Then I tried a few times, and only succeeded twice and they take longer to start up.

What is the cause of this?

    Kind regards,

    Johnny

  • I found that the value of "motorVars_M1.faultMtrNow.all" is not 0 when the motor starts.

  • Sorry,I solved the problem.
