Hi team,

Can you share documentation regarding layout guidance (fan-out, routing, placement of supporting components, etc.) for the F28388DZWTS DSP ?

I did find the following document: Hardware Design Guide for F2800x C2000 Real-Time MCU Series (Rev. A) however, it only contains guidance for the QFN package and not the BGA package we are using, and there are some significant differences.

Please take a look at the TMDSCNCDF28388D layout files included in C2000ware. They can be utilized as a layout reference for F2838x devices.

Hi I apologize for the delay. I was unable to find any BGA layout guide specifically for TMS320F388D but much of the information in this guide would apply:

Hi Joe,

I’ve looked through all this documentation, but a few things are still unclear:

What are layout recommendations for VDDA/VSSA pins? The documentation for TMS320F2838x doesn’t recommend small value & bulk capacitors separately like for other power nets, but 2.2uF or more bulk capacitors on each pin.
What are the layout recommendations for VREFHI/VREFLO pins? Is it recommended to connect VREFLO pins directly to a common ground plane, or to run parallel traces and connect them close to the VREF source/buffer? Should decoupling capacitors be placed near on the bottom next to fanout vias, or next to the BGA?
