TMS320F280049C: Memory Power On Self Test (MPOST) configuration / Timing

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

As per the document

Application Note C2000Tm Memory Power-On Self-Test (M-POST)

To enable MPOST

But in the latest technical reference manual there is no mention of the Configure the memory power on self-test register field

Is M-POST available for this device or not ?? because there is no mention of MPOST in the Technical reference manual other than a link to the document

And if the Feature is available is there any way the test execution time be reduced??

because as per the document

it takes approximately 50,000,000 INTOSC2 that is 50,000,000 * (1/10Mhz) = 5sec. which is way to much.

Can the test be executed with PLL Enabled???

  • Dikshith,

MPOST is available on this device, and the app note is correct.  I need to check to see if there was a recent update to the TRM and this was removed for some reason, by accident I assume.  I will reply back once I have some more info.

On this device there is no way to speed up the MPOST execution, it will always operation on INTOSC2 clock.  We added ability to enable PLL with setting in GPREG2 in later devices, but this device was one of the first where we added MPOST capability.

    Best,
    Matthew

  • Hi Dikshith, I apologize for any confusion here, but I looked into this matter more and it seems we intentionally removed MPOST support for F28004x primarily for the very issue you ran into, namely that the execution time is not practical and there is no way to reduce it for this device.  I will work with the team to remove C2000 Memory Power-On Self-Test (M-POST) (Rev. A) (ti.com) from the web or update it with applicable devices.  Again, many apologies for any confusion we have caused on this matter.

  • Hi Joe,

Thank you for this Information, But I have one more Doubt regarding this

Can we Long Branch (LB) to the Boot ROM address where this MPOST function is saved after increasing the Clock in Assembly (f28004x_codestartbranch.asm) before calling _c_int00 ? Is this possible?

  • Hey Joe,

I wanted to know, What different tests are actually running in MPOST, PBIST tests?? in F28004x

Is there any similarity with March13N test in Software Diagnostic Library that i can use as an Alternative??

  • Dikshith,

Unfortunately we do not support calling the MPOST outside of the BROM, so that will not be a solution here.

Your 2nd post is valid; the test is March13n, which should be available in the SDL, and can be called after PLL is setup and in your main function to give equivalent test coverage.

    Best,

    Matthew
