TMS320F280049C: Pulse Skipping Issue in Inverters at Extreme and Lower Duty Cycles Using TMS320F280049C Microcontroller and IRS21091STRPBF Gate Driver IC

Part Number: TMS320F280049C

Tool/software:

We are experiencing a significant issue with pulse skipping in our inverter systems. These systems are based on the TMS320F280049C microcontroller and the IRS21091STRPBF gate driver IC. The pulse skipping problem is most pronounced at extreme (very high) and lower duty cycles when the inverter is under load. This issue is affecting the stability and efficiency of our inverters.

  • Hi Harshil,

Could you describe the issue further (if you are able, please provide oscilloscope images or diagrams as well so I can see what the desired output is vs. what error is occurring).

What are the configurations for your PWM? Are you varying any parameters (e.g. variable phase shift, CMPx values, PRD, etc)? Trying to gauge if there could be some case within the software/configurations, or are you suspecting this is hardware noise related due to load?

    Best Regards,

    Allison

  • Hi Allison,

In the mentioned link, I have attached the oscilloscope image(Red is a high pulse skipped every time during the lower and higher duty cycle.)

TBPRD value is 5000 center aligned. And the switching frequency is 10khz.

i have also check hardware noise but found in order. and this is happening with load only without load inverter is working fine.

  • Hi Harshil,

Unfortunately I am unable to open the link. Could you attach the image by using the 'Insert' > 'Image/video/file' > 'Upload' process on E2E? Also are you able to elaborate more on the PWM configurations?

What are the configurations for your PWM? Are you varying any parameters (e.g. variable phase shift, CMPx values, PRD, etc)?

What are the CMPx values, and action qualifiers, and are you using phase shift/syncing at all?

    Best Regards,

    Allison
