TMS320F28388D: RAM ECC/Parity

Hello,

i am trying to inject e.g. ECC error into RAM and then read the same adress to check the reaction, e.g. Interrupt should be triggered.

But when i flip the bits at the specific address, with Debugger memory display (lauterbach) i dont see the content change at the address. Finally i can see the interrupt is triggered, i just dont know why the debugger does not show the manipulated content at the address?

I find this in the TRM: what does it mean?

That mean if you read a location which has incorrect ECC/Parity via debugger memory watch view, interrupt will not be generated as it's a debug read.

i have such test code.

the adress is 0x0, the xorMask is 0x10001, it is trying to flip the 2 bits. The right memory window shows the memory content, the left memory window shows the stack content. After the xor operation, why does the right memory window not show the xor-ed content? I assume the content should be 0x10001.

I am not clear what both windows are showing here. One window has address 0x0 and other window has different address. What is the connection ?

left memory window is the ram area tested, in this case address 0 is being tested. the right window shows the stack content.

can you please give more details, what difference does the debug read make? Under what condition is the interrupt not generated? Thanks.

Hi Chao,

Debug read (CCS memory watch window) to memory location which has ECC error will not generate interrupt as this read is considered read for debug. Only when CPU reads such location, an interrupt will be generated.
