TMS320F280039: Question about 3bank/1bank LFU

Part Number: TMS320F280039

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

My customer has a few questions on the LFU of F280039 and F2800137.

1. Since F280039 has 3 flash banks, can we put bootloader and FlashAPI on the third bank to do LFU? In this way they can save the memory on the two banks. The existing LFU documents are about 2 bank LFU, and document or guides we can offer the customer on how to do the 3 bank LFU?

2. As per the LFU guide, single bank LFU is possible if there is enough RAM space, is there any document showing how to do single Bank LFU?

3. LFU requires RAM swaping. Customer is using all LSx RAM for CLA and doesn't have space to swap, is there any work around on this case?

Regards,

Hang.

  • Hang,

    1) Yes, bootloader and Flash API can be kept on 3rd bank.  I did not review the guides recently.  When our LFU expert gets back in mid-July, he can comment on this for you.

    2) I don't think there is a guide to explain this.  Basically, you need to copy the critical ISRs to RAM for the active application while updating the second half of the bank.

    3) If I remember correctly, RAM swaping was used to reduce the application bring-up time after the update is over.  If that is not a concern, RAM swaping can be avoided I guess.  I need to double check since this maybe related to saving the application context in case of LFU without reset.

If possible, please wait for couple of weeks to get correct answers from our LFU expert.  As of now, I am just throwing the ideas that I got.

    Thanks and regards,
    Vamsi
