TMS320F28388D: Problem recognizing hardware in windows by first time use

Part Number: TMS320F28388D

Tool/software:

We bought 3 pieces TMS320F28388D. All of them identical (same hardware revision). When connecting first time to a desktop pc, each board presents different behavior and namely:

the onboard emulator probe appears as a device in the windows device manager, but different virtual COM ports are generated by each board.

One board generated two COM ports (debug/aux); other only the aux port (no debug port) and even the cards with debug probes appearing in the device list, wont allow to establish external mode (XCP Protocoll over COM) when using matlab.

FYI, this project is happening along with my company in the TU Stuttgart, which is making quite intensive use of your products. We are all quite concerned of those failures, and we would like to ask for an engineering travelling of site and helping us to troubleshoot or for direct support via this forum, as other communication channels have already cost time and efforts without useful result.

  • Hi Evangelos,

    Appologies for the delay.

    1. Can you reprogram the XDS110 on all 3 boards from this path: C:\ti\ccs1271\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110

    2. Check all the switch positions are same while comparing the boards (Minor).

    3. Also, update to latest CCS version (12.7)

Let me know if this fixes or not.

    Best Regards,

    Uttam
