Hi Ed,
This should be enabled automatically. If you try to 'Debug' with an unsaved file, you will get the option to save your file.

Ben Collier
Hi Ben,
Now I am unable to duplicate the issue. It is saving any files I do not save prior to initiating the build.
Ed
Hi Ben,
It happened again. It seems to be intermittent. I left two files open. When I clicked the Build button, it closed the last one I edited, but not the first. BTW, I am using CCS 12.5.0.00007. What is different from before, is that if the first file was really not saved, the compiler would have generated an error. That is how I discovered this. But there was no error which proves that the file really was saved.
So in this case, I think that CCS simply didn't update the "unsaved" file's tab. A manual save fixed the tab, but caused another build. So the manual save was also a real save.
Thanks,
Ed
Hi Ed,
Are all of the files you are editing in your workspace folder? If you edit, e.g one of the C2000Ware library files that is included in a project as a linked folder which isn't a subdirectory of the workspace, it is not automatically saved.
Allan
Hi Allan,
By workspace folder, I assume that you mean a folder under the workspace folder? Neither of the files falls under that category. One file is in the main project's folder. The other is in one of the folders listed in the Include Options of the C2000 Compiler. Does that help?
Thank you,
Ed
Hi Luke,
Our file system is too large and complex to fit onto a single screen, and would expose our IP. I can tell you that none of it is under our workspaces which are in a different and unrelated location. Is there something in particular you are seeking?
Thank you,
Ed
Try cleaning your environment as mentioned in the CCS UG sections 9.4.2 and 9.4.3:
https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/users_guide/ccs_troubleshooting.html#general-ide
Yes! Of course. I should have thought of that. I have deleted everything in my workspace folder and the all the folders generated by the builds and debugging sessions. I then tried a case with three files left unsaved, and it saved all of them. I'll keep an eye open to see if that continues...
Thank you Ki,
Ed
It's been a day, and so far no issues. Of course my habit of manually saving files has prevented me from giving CCS many opportunities to close multiple files. But I suspect that cleaning out my workspace was what was needed.
