TMS320F2800155: CAN Boot Mode

Part Number: TMS320F2800155

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I have a couple of questions related to the CAN boot mode on the controller

1. Is it possible to flash an image in the flash using CAN boot mode without having to flash a CAN bootloader kernal?

2. If I want to erase the whole Flash before flashing my application using CAN boot mode what steps should I perform?

Regards,

Josel

  • Hi Josel,

    >Is it possible to flash an image in the flash using CAN boot mode without having to flash a CAN bootloader kernal?

Downloading the CAN bootloader kernel is a requirement to flashing an image in the flash for the device. The CAN bootloader will download an image into RAM memory only, this is why a CAN Flash kernel would be needed.

    >If I want to erase the whole Flash before flashing my application using CAN boot mode what steps should I perform?

The DCAN Flash kernel has the ability to erase the which flash banks and sectors are specified by the user (Section 4.1 of CAN Flash Programming of C2000 Microcontrollers). Alternatively, this can be done through the CCS On-Chip Flash tool erase flash button.

    Thanks and regards,

    Charles
