TMS320F280039C: The pros and cons of control loop design

Hi Champ,

For digital power delivery application, it is normally to see the running the control loop either designed with following PWM then triggering ISR or a fixed frequency (for example 50kHz) then executing once control loop.

The question often asked by customer, what are the pros and cons of control loop designed in each way ?

Would the expert explicitly explain the differences between them or on the basis of what to design in one of the way ? or is it purely depending on user's habit ?

So, is it based on different topologies being used here, then decide which control loop to be designed ? or it's not 100% related ?
