TMS320F28388D: Details regarding TMS320F28388D

Part Number: TMS320F28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, UNIFLASH

Tool/software:

I need to know few details regarding this Controller.

1. Which port needs to be used for CAN flashing support?

2. Is there an option to outsource a Bootloader from market, if yes what's the process and supplier details?

Thanks,

Kavin Babu.

  • Hi Kavin,

    1. The CAN boot options are available in the device documentation (TRM)

or in the device boot loader in C2000Ware located at

    C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_5_02_00_00\libraries\boot_rom\f2838x\revA\rom_sources\cpu1\F2838x_ROM\bootROM\source\bootloader_can.c

    2. What type of bootloader are you looking for? Yes, you can use a custom bootloader if needed, but I believe it is up to the user to create/outsource this. I can double check on this once you provide some more detail on what you are targeting.

    Best Regards,

    Allison

  • Hi Allison,

Yeah, I am looking for a CAN Bootloader to outsource from TI for the discussing Controller. Let me know what details you required to give me the exact cost and outsourcing options for the Bootloader.

And also, we are looking to use UNIFlash option (example - Like vector VFLASH ) to flash the Software using Hex file. Please help me to understand the concept and input file for UNIFLASH tool to flash the application.

    Thanks,

    Kavin Babu.

  • Hi Kavin,

If you are looking for a CAN based bootloader, we have the CAN Flash kernel available for some of our devices that you can use as an example. It is documented in our CAN Flash Programming of C2000 Microcontrollers application note.

The example can be adapted from one of our previous devices to fit your needs.

The port number used for flashing can be found in the device manager for your machine when you connect the device.

Other things in terms of cost you will need to use the PEAK PCAN USB Pro Adapter with this project as it uses their API for some of the communication functionality.

    Thanks and regards,

    Charles

  • hey hi,

I think we are not in same page according to bootloader outsourcing option.

Instead of creating a bootloader using CAN Flash kernel, we are looking to outsource complete Bootloader package from TI (Example: Torrox)

    or from another supplier.

We can connect on call to make clear understanding on our requirement. Let me know your availability time so that we can connect.

    Thanks,

    Kavin Babu.
