TMS320F280037: GPIO pin state during firmware update

Hello,

Is there a way to guarantee a GPIO is in the low state during a firmware update? I have an external pullup on the GPIO of interest, and during a firmware update it looks like the pin goes to a high impedance state, so the line gets pulled high. I need to keep the external pullup, but would like the pin to be low during firmware update.

Hi Ryan,

Do you expect a CPU reset to occur before the firmware update? Upon a device reset, all GPIOs are configured as inputs with their internal pull-up resistors disabled. You may need a custom bootloader to driver your GPIO high during the firmware update.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for the response. It sounds like if I don't reset the CPU before a firmware update, then I could create a custom bootloader to hold the GPIO pin low during a firmware update?

Hi Ryan,

Yes, a custom bootloader would be necessary since a reset must be performed to enter one of the built-in boot modes on the device.
