  • Hi,

I  have not seen this error message before. I may be wrong but It seems like it has something to do with the scan chain. Can you tell me what debug tool you are running to get the error message? Are you having the same error message on all the boards you have?

  • im using segger j-link programmer. this is the only board with this issue. we had to replace this component recently.

  • Hi Rich,

I'm not exactly sure what is the cause of the problem. It seems like J-link is unable to connect to the device through the JTAG interface. You said you are trying to replace this component. Does this mean this device have other problem and you are trying to debug it and as the result seeing the error message during connection?

  • we have replaced the SM470R1B1 chip, now we get this error. is there something need to be done before installing a new one?

  • You might want to check the solder flux and make sure you have solid connection on the JTAG interface for nTRST, TMS, TCK, TDI, TDO. I hate to suggest replacing another chip yet but that may be a later thing to try. If you swap in another SM470R1B1 chip and still see the same message then it leads me to think it a board level issue. You can do a ABA swap test as well. I suppose you have other normal working boards, correct? Can you swap the chip on the board that has the error message to the normal working board and vice versa. An ABA swap test will tell a lot of information if the problem is on the board or on the chip.
