TMDSCNCD28388D: Checklist to diagnose faulty board

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28388D

Tool/software:

Hi Champs,

My customer recently burnt 2 F2838x controlCARDs while working on their software—they work on DC-DC and OBC. The boards suddenly stopped working: no PWM output, LEDs went off, etc. They cannot connect anymore to the target through JTAG. They haven't yet checked the power supplies though.

Do we have a checklist to help our customer diagnosing a faulty controlCARD?

Best regards,
François.

  • Hello Francois,

Below are the steps I would recommend.

    1. Check all the power supplies on the controlCARD. Customer will need to reference the schematics for power tree and test point information.

    2. Check the power, reset, and clock inputs to the F2838x MCU. Power supplies need to be at valid levels, clock needs to be on, and reset needs to be high.

    3. Check that the embedded XDS110 is present in device manager.

    4. Perform a "Test Connection" from CCS to determine if communication with MCU is available.
