LAUNCHXL-F28069M: Issues with Running Instaspin

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE, DRV8305, CONTROLSUITE, TMS320F28069,

Tool/software:

Hello Everyone. I am having issues connecting the launchpad to instaspin. I have downloaded motorware, CCS, and controlsuite. I have run through the getting started guide and it is very confusing. I am also using a DRV8305 EVM with it. Please let me know simply how do I connect this board to instaspin so I can utilize the software.

  • Hello Peter,

The project can also be ran through CCS, which may simplify the initial connection. For example purposes, I'll say I'm running proj_lab10b, selected at random.

    1. Launch CCS and import the relevant project
      1. F2806xM projects for the BOOSTXL-DRV8305 are located at:
        {motorware install location}\sw\solutions\instaspin_motion\boards\boostxldrv8305_revA\f28x\f2806xM\projects\ccs

    2. In CCS, open the 'project explorer' option in the 'View' toolbar, if not already open

    3. Right click on TMS320F28069_xds100v2.ccxml and select 'Set as Default Target Configuration'. Do so again and select 'Set as Active Target Configuration'
    4. Connect the PC to the the LAUNCHXL-F28069M

    5. Click on the "debug" button

    6. If this does not successfully connect to the device, please let me know the exact contents of the CCS Problems option in the 'View' toolbar, if not already open.

I'll be able to help you further once you follow these steps.

    Regards,
    Jason Osborn
