TMS320F2800157: Functionnal safety (IEC 61508) SIL3 compliant

Genius 3186 points

Part Number: TMS320F2800157

Tool/software:

Hello,

May I have question about F2800157 function safety?

Question1

I think F2800157 have compliant SIL2 and "systematic capability" SIL3.

https://www.ti.com/lit/fs/sffs748/sffs748.pdf

Is this mean F280015x compliant SIL2 in only this chip, but SIL3 need external fail detection logic?

Or SIL3 certification require including software?

Question2

Is this certification including software? or only MCU hardware?

Question3

Do you have any application-note, guide, or manual for achieve the SIL3?

And It would be great if there is a manual on diagnostic methods.

Question4

I believe MTBF can see from TI HP.

However my customer require RAM, CPU, flash, permanent failure rate and temporary failure rate data for each peripheral.

May I get this data?

Thanks,

GR

  • Hello expart,

    Is there anything information?

    Best regards,

    GR

  • Hi GR,

Q1: This means the IC design flow ensures our device is designed and verified with a flow certified for SIL3, which ensures the design does not have bugs to a SIL 3 level.

With single MCU, you can achieve SIL 2, and you can achieve SIL 3 with multi-channel safety concepts such as 1oo2D with another MCU / device.

Q2: We have software like compiler that are also certified. Also, we provide a CPU STL that is certified for 60% coverage (latent fault coverage targeted) and some safety diagnostic libraries for peripherals (SDL).

Q3: We have some certified safety concepts for achieving higher SIL / CAT / PL levels, but requires NDA to access. Please contact your TI sales team to request access.

Q4: We provide a full customizable FMEDA, again with NDA requirement. Please contact your sales person.

Here is a summary of all safety collaterals provided here: https://www.ti.com/lit/swab013
