Hi Team,

one general question about the AD converter in TMS320F28379S.

Can an uncompensated drift of the measurement occur there, e.g. due to aging or failure of the components of the associated DAC, or is this excluded by the operating principle?

The question arises whether it would be expected measurement errors. So, it would make sense to have to double-measure safety critical values with different A/D converter blocks. Would you recommend that?

Curious about the background of the question. Is this related to safety requirement? To satisfy safety requirement, the recommendation is to use redundant channels/ADCs for the same signal to address the issue of failure in the ADC while conversion is happening. In F28379S, there are only a few ADC input channels that route to other ADC modules, In newer designs like F28P65x, there are redundancies on almost all the channels/ADC modules to satisfy the safety requirement as you have described in a case where a component in the ADC fails.
