LAUNCHXL-F280039C: Issue Configuring INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI with F280039C LaunchPad and MotorWare Reference

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F280039C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI, MOTORWARE, C2000WARE-MOTORCONTROL-SDK, C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am trying to configure the INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI with the F280039C LaunchPad, but I'm encountering issues getting the software to run after installation. The software doesn't open, and I'm unsure how to proceed to resolve this.

Additionally, I need guidance on the proper reference for the MotorWare software to use with the F280039C LaunchPad. Are there specific steps or configurations I should follow during installation?

Could someone kindly provide detailed instructions or troubleshooting steps for both the GUI and MotorWare setup? I have attached a screenshot of the error for reference.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Sankaraa

  • INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI doesn't support F280039C, it only supports the labs in motorWare.

  • Hi Luo,

Thank you for the clarification that INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI does not support the F280039C, but MotorWare does.

I have installed the MotorWare software, but I'm unsure if it's GUI-based. When I open the software, the attached screenshot is all that appears. Could you confirm if MotorWare has a GUI, and if not, guide me on how to proceed with configuring motor parameters for the F280039C?

Additionally, I would appreciate any references or instructions on how to connect the F280039C to MotorWare, including specific labs or examples to follow.

    Thank you for your help.

    Best regards,
    Sankaraa

  • If you want use F280039C, you may refer to the lab for the C2000 devices in motor control SDK. The universal motor control lab is available in the current MCSDK, which can support a set of hardware kits and control algorithms for BLDC/PMSM drive. The kits include LAUNCHXL-F280025C, LAUNCHXL-F280039C,  LAUNCHXL-F2800137 with DRV8316REVM inverter board for low voltage motor.  The control algorithms include sensorless InstaSPIN-FOC with FAST, Sensorless-FOC with eSMO, Sensored-FOC with incremental encoder, Sensored-FOC with hall sensor.  You can refer to the device peripherals (ePWM, ADC, eQEP, or eCAP) configuration for motor control with the other C2000 devices including F2838x.

  • Thank you for the detailed response regarding the Universal Motor Control Lab in the Motor Control SDK.

    I have a few follow-up questions:

    1. I would like to confirm if the provided code for the F280039C is functioning correctly, especially in a sensorless setup. Can the motor be run using Sensorless-FOC with eSMO?

    2. Additionally, if we modify motor parameters, will the code adapt and work correctly for different motors?

    3. We are testing this code for vehicle control. Is this setup suitable for vehicle motors, and are any specific adjustments needed?

    4. Are the device peripherals (ePWM, ADC, eQEP, or eCAP) already configured in the provided lab, or do we need to configure them manually?

Your guidance on these points would be very helpful.

    Best regards,

  • I would like to confirm if the provided code for the F280039C is functioning correctly, especially in a sensorless setup. Can the motor be run using Sensorless-FOC with eSMO?

    Sensorless-FOC with InstaSPIN-FAST or eSMO

Additionally, if we modify motor parameters, will the code adapt and work correctly for different motors?

Yes as the InstaSPIN-FOC with FAST in motorWare.

We are testing this code for vehicle control. Is this setup suitable for vehicle motors, and are any specific adjustments needed?

    Motor drive for any applications.

Are the device peripherals (ePWM, ADC, eQEP, or eCAP) already configured in the provided lab, or do we need to configure them manually?

Not all. It's mainly for motor drive with a few interfaces.
