TIEVM-HV-1PH-DCAC: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC

Part Number: TIEVM-HV-1PH-DCAC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC, C2000WARE, PMP23069, PMP23338

Tool/software:

Dear Sir,

I'm working with the TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC reference design using the C2000Ware Digital Power SDK  5.01.00.00 (I'm running the gridConnectedInverterCLFltr_F2837x solution).

I have couple of questions:

1. It seems I have an over c1urrent problem as I found that EPwm1Regs.TZFLG.DCAEVT1 is high and then happens two things: 1. the software logical sate changes to OFF 2. the TripZone hardware set the output line to low.

if I try to restart the run session the over current problem remains with the above symptoms. If I try to reset the EPwm1Regs.TZFLG.DCAEVT1 to low it doesn't change the situation.

can you suggest a reasonable logic to overcome this situation?

How can I change the threshold limit to allow higher current at the output?

2. I'd like to increase the frequency of the inverterISR to 100Khz (including the PWM rate). what are the changes (software/hardware) needed to be taken to establish this working condition? can you write the explicit changes which are required

Best Regards,

Tomer

  • Hello Amit

In the first question, what do you mean by "the software logical sate"?, TripZone hardware set the output line to low?

Are you using TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC hardware from TI? If yes, please make sure you are following the steps given in the userguide. If you still the problem, please send me the screen shot of expression window.

    2. This hardware may not be suitable for 100KHz switching frequency as it use MOSFET, not GaN. You can refer pmp23069 for 100kHz operation. This design supports grid connected inverter operation but not the standalone mode.

    Thank you

  • Hello Amir, thanks for your fast answer.

The software solution which run on the target dsp has logical states...when the trip zone event occur the software change its state to inverterOFF. Beside that the trip zone module inside the dsp set the output to low.

    I'd like to

    1. Change the current limits which cause a trip zone event

    2. When a trip zone event occur, to reset the relevant value in regester I previously mentioned and then start the inverter (to close again the relay) and start the inverter activity with hard reset

    Thanks,

    Tomer

  • Amir,

    1. can you respond to my other questions please - please refer to my other post.

    2. You refer to pmp23069 - do you mean I have a hardware limit because of the FETs only? or the whole solution can't be adapted  to 100khz with the TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC module?

    3. What do you mean by "standalone"?

    4. Can I use the pmp23069's software solution and run it on the TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC module?

    regards,

    Tomer

  • Hello Tomer

For Question 1, Can you please share the image of expression window when the trip occurs? Also, share the image of oscilloscope at the trip by triggering at a high current value. I need to see if the trip is indeed due to a high current.

    2. Yes, certainly due to the FET. Additionally, the gate drivers in TIDM-HV may not be designed for 100kHz operation.

    3. Standalone means voltage source operation without grid

    4. No, pmp23069 is a separate reference design. Also, there is a newer version of this design, called pmp23338. This design is orderable from ti.com. Although pmp23338 does not have inverter mode implemented, you can use pmp23069 software to implement grid connected inverter mode operation on pmp23338.

    Thank you
