TMS320F280025C: How should I start learning about Texas MCU

Part Number: TMS320F280025C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F280025C, C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Hello everyone,

I am an engineering student who wants to improve myself in the field of embedded software. I have done applications on arm based microcontrollers before, but this is the first time I will use a product of TEXAS Instruments. I bought a LAUNCHXL-F280025C series development kit a long time ago, but I didn't dare to use it. Now I want to learn this. Where should I start in the TEXAS family? Is there a course or resource you recommend me to take? I want to progress through this kit.

  • Hi Emre,

Welcome to the TI family! Yes, there are several resources I can point you to in order to start developing and learning our C2000 MCUs.

I would recommend you take a look at the C28x Academy as this houses a plethora of links to additional information/resources:

    • There are modules of training content there as well as hands-on guided labs where you can walk through developing a project in our CCS platform.
    • There are also many other starter documents and videos linked in the first "New to C2000" modules
    • There are additional documentation/collateral links that can be found within each individual Academy training content page- usually at the very bottom of the pages.
    • There are also other dedicated pages in the Academy with end-equipment specific resources and device migration resources, though you may not need these if you are just starting out, but could be interesting for you to look at if you want to see reference designs involving C2000 devices and observe how they operate within a system.

For more detailed device information, please be sure to refer to the F28002x datasheet and the F28002x technical reference manual (TRM) -both of which can be found on the F28002x product page on ti.com- these have the device specifications and in-depth descriptions of the device peripherals, capabilities, register descriptions, etc. respectively.

For software examples, you can find these within our C2000Ware software development kit (SDK): {C2000Ware}\driverlib\f28002x\examples. These can also be imported into CCS to use as a starting point or a reference.

Hope this helps you get started! Let me know if you run into issues or have further questions, or feel free to create another thread for any new/specific topics.

    Best Regards,

    Allison
