TIDM-02006: Motor Position Encoder - Maximum Torque Angle

Part Number: TIDM-02006

Tool/software:

Hi,

From the reference design, we have the following diagram:

Our question is relatied to the position encoders ElecTheta angle and the angle that InversePark is expecting. Our understanding is that if we want to produce maximum torque the rotor angle and flux angle need to be 90° apart.

Does this require us to offset the Postion encoder by 90° electrical so that when we comand an Iq_ref value, the SVGEN creates a field at an angle orthogonal to the rotor angle?

Thanks

  • Hi,

Our understanding is that if we want to produce maximum torque the rotor angle and flux angle need to be 90° apart.

Our control design is based on rotor field oriented control, where flux angle is rotor angle.

    Thanks,
