TMS320F28P650DK: EtherCAT hot swap

Part Number: TMS320F28P650DK

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

My client connected a number of EtherCAT devices in a similar way to serial connection.

For example, A-B-C-D. If B is broken, my customer need to remove B and connect A to C directly without reset.

So, does F28P65 EtherCAT device support hot swap?

Thanks,
Leo

  • Hi Leo,

For example, A-B-C-D. If B is broken, my customer need to remove B and connect A to C directly without reset.

They would manually disconnect and re-connect the cables in this scenario?

EtherCAT supports hot swap, this is specified by Bekchoff. They would need to connect Port1 to Port0 of the different devices and then it should work. Cable redundancy is another feature they could look into for handling line breaks.

    Best,

    Kevin
