TMS320F280049: CAN_CTL register, INIT bit

Part Number: TMS320F280049
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Hi,

customer program the CAN module and have questions on CAN_CTL register. Their SW is writing bit 0 and bit 15 with atomic write.

TRM shows the bit15 SWR is write-protected by bit0 init bit. What does write – protect mean. Is write to bit 15 ignored when bit 0 equals 0 or 1?

Does Set INIT bit to shut down CAN communication mean 1 CAN module ignores bus activity.

What does 1. and 2. mean? Does it mean that they have to do it with 2 steps?

C2000ware does it with 2 steps.

There is a delay of 14 cycles, which is not documented in the TRM. What is this?

Regards, Holger
