TMS320F28379D: Full Comparison guide

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Tool/software:

I am trying to understand the differences between the TMS320F28379D and other C2000 MCUs.  All I can find is this webpage: C2000 real-time microcontrollers product selection | TI.com But this only has columns for some of the peripherals on the devices.  Some of the peripherals not in columns are shown in the "Features" column, but not all of them.  I can't make a comparison of the different devices with incomplete information.  I tried downloading the Excel spreadsheet from the page but that is even worse (some information is missing that is shown on the webpage).  Is there a complete document that shows all the peripherals and MCUs in a matrix like all other vendors provide?

  • Hi Greg,

I believe what you are looking for is the C2000 Peripheral User Guide linked here. There are compact lists of every peripheral present for each device family (and the peripheral type) under "Peripherals Available Per Device". I would suggest looking at the Gen 3 tables since these will be most similar to F2837xD. You can also view the "Peripheral Descriptions" section to see lists of all device families that have a specific peripheral.

    Best Regards,

    Delaney

  • Hi Delaney,

Thanks for the pointer, although that is the raw data that I need it doesn't allow me to directly compare the MCUs.  I would need to create a unified matrix of all those tables to do the comparison; otherwise, I have to scroll across dozens of pages of tables to do the comparison.  I guess if that is all there is I will have to create that matrix myself, It's odd because I really don't see this as a big ask...every other chip vendor provides this matrix to allow comparison between their devices.

    Thanks,

    Greg

  • I take it back...this doesn't give me the raw data that I need because it doesn't indicate how many of each peripheral the devices have, it just has an "X" indicating that it has it.  Without the number of the peripherals I can't tell if the MCU meets my needs or not.

  • Hi Greg,

I don't know of anything that has this directly, although you can reference the device datasheets or product pages to see this data if you would like to make an excel sheet. I am looping in one of our marketing team members to see if they know of anything.

    Best Regards,

    Delaney

  • unfortunately, in an attempt to make the selection tool easier to use / focused on what most customers actually were searching for, they have made it ineffective for when you need to see all the data.

Is there something specific we can help you with to find a new device ?

  • I poured over the datasheets and made a spreadsheet for what I need.  Seems like that should be available from the vendor but it is what it is.
