LAUNCHXL-F280039C: Version confusion - CCS1.8.n or CCS20 or Theia1.5.1 ?

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F280039C

Tool/software:

Our  software team needs certainty in regard investing in the learning/training time to get into a pretty major  project. In the last three months of assessing the task we have experienced each of the above IDE variants. We migrated to Theia thinking that was the latest and perhaps the most stable also believing it would be the IDE taking us into the future.

Now ? Last week I got told CCS20 was available and would be the best investment.... Is CCS20 the predicted release variant for December ? The terms seem confusing to us....CCS20 OR "Theia" is going to be the terminology ? I have seen "CCS20 Theia" also in the TI literature .... Can we get a statement up front on CCS landing page about the terminology/branding etc ???

    This is correct.

The confusion is likely stemming from the fact that we introduced a new product line called "CCS Theia" in parallel to our "CCS" line. "CCS Theia" was our new IDE based on the Theia IDE framework while CCS was still based on the older Eclipse IDE framework (at the time). We continued to have releases for both "CCS" and "CCS Theia" in parallel. We have now discontinued the separate "CCS Theia" line. CCS Theia 1.5.1 is the last release with the "CCS Theia" branding. We will continue the "CCS" line, but starting with CCS 20, it will be based off the same Theia IDE framework that CCS Theia was. CCS 12.8.1 is the last CCS version to be based on CCS Eclipse. CCS 20 is the next CCS release after 12.8.1 - but based on the Theia IDE instead. CCS 20 is based off CCS Theia 1.5.1. All future releases of CCS are going to be based on the Theia IDE.
