Using the modem as is help, RS-232 Serial

I am trying to just send information from one serial connection, SCI-A, to the next modem box of the TMS320C2000. Is there a way to just relay information from one box directly or would I have to adjust something?

Thanks,

David

  • I actually found an example project to use a hyperterminal to echo back what is being typed. Is it possible to adjust the codes so that the other TMS320C2000 box along the same power line recieves it and then relay that information to another hyperterminal? I am trying to use two hyperterminal connected to two different TMS320 boxes and have them relay information over the power line through SCI-A.

    Thanks,

    David

  • What "box" are you talking about?

Hyperterminal is a Windows terminal emulator application - it does not echo anything other that than locally typed characters (when appropriately configured).

You mention "power lines" - but give no details.

Remember that nobody knows anything about you or your project other than what you clearly and explicitly state in your posts.

  • I am setting up two hyper terminals from two different laptops. Each of the laptop will communicate through a TMS320C2000 PLC modem. I am using the SCI-A, which is an RS-232 connection for both laptops to the PLC modems. I also have the modems plugged into the same outlet to make sure that both the PLC modems are on the same circuit so that they can communicate with each other.   As of right now I'm using the PQM (PLC Quality Monitor) GUI to adjust the two boxes to transmit and receive data by SCI-A, but when I send a message to the other one, it does not work. I am using PQM as a way of setting up the two PLC modems (the TMS320C2000) and getting it to communicate with each other before I implement them to the two laptops and checking to see if it works by way of hyper terminal from each of the laptop. I just want to set up the serial on both PLC modems so that they can relay information by the SCI-A directly, using a PC with hyper terminal to have the PLC modems act as a mirroring communication device that transmit information (transmitting PLC modem) from one end through the same wall outlet or "power line" to the receiving end (receiving PLC modem)  which is also plugged into the same wall outlet to a secondary PC that also running another hyper terminal.

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks,

    David
