TMS320F28377D: Boot ROM actions description

Part Number: TMS320F28377D

Tool/software:

Hi Champ,

I am asking for my customer.

They are seeing a reset occurred in run-time, asking for details about under what circumstances will be established, to help on troubleshooting.

When reset occurred, they have seen the bit 15.14.11.10.9.8 in the Boot Status Bit Fields are raised.

(1). What does the bit 11 (Boot ROM handled all the resets) in Boot Status meaning ? Under what circumstances will have the bit be set ?

(2). Looking to all the bits (15.14.11.10.9.8), any bit is related to a reset ?

(3). Any error register could check for the reset source ?

Thanks and regards,

Johnny

  • Hi Johnny,

    1. Bit 11 - This bit is set after all RESC (reset cause register) is handled.
    2. Regarding the rest, please refer the customer to the TRM chapter 3.3 Resets, which has descriptions on POR, XRS, and other reset information. a, b, and c below most closely relate to a reset.
      1. 15 - Boot ROM handled POR
      2. 14 - Boot ROM handled XRS
      3. 11 - Boot ROM handled all the resets
      4. 10 - DCSM initialization has completed
      5. 9 - Flash boot has started
      6. 8 - CPU1 Boot ROM has started running
    3. Please see the RESC register - this has bits to indicate the cause of a reset (TRM Table 3-202. RESC Register Field Descriptions).

    Best Regards,

    Allison
