TMS320F28P650SH: Can we use F28P650S single cpu + CLA to run Ethercat + control loop @16K

Hi Team,

My customer want to use F28P650SH to replace F28388SZWTSR, but worry about F28P650SH can meet performance requirements, so could you give me some advice?

EE is servo, run Ethercat on CPU also have control loop(current , speed, position) , PWM carrier frequency is 16K

I recommend customer use F28P65DH, but dual core version has high price than single core version.

    Hi Zane,

    The challenge here is EtherCAT which has to run on C28x CPU.  Current, speed, position sensing and PWM control loop can all be accommodated by CPU1.  This type of application works well with F28388 since the CM4 core independently runs EtherCAT.

    Two courses to take would be to see if customer can work with lower pin count 2 core device or check with Marketing team if they can help.
