C2000WARE-MOTORCONTROL-SDK: 2 axis gimbal with high precision absolute encoder

Part Number: C2000WARE-MOTORCONTROL-SDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDM-1010, C2000WARE, TMDXIDDK379D

Tool/software:

Hi, i am revisiting this topic as it is 5 years old. I am in the exact same situation as the OP. BLDC 24 pole motor and 20 bit optical encoder with SSi / BiSS-C communication. Only i am trying to get 2 axis gimbal with precision under 1 arcmin. What product would you recommend as test platform. We will be building our custom board after the test phase. It should be 48 V nominal voltage with nominal current around 2A.

Is the Insta spin still in use or is it Motor Control.

I am considering TI instead of Trinamic because of the 16 bit limit.

Thank you

Best regards

Ing. Jiri Chytil

  • As far as i know i should be using C2000 with CBL capable of SSI communication, but i am looking for some launchpad solution wih your TIDM-1010 addon board and some power stage for the motor.

  • Jiri,

There is a BiSS-C communication example in the C2000Ware Motor Control SDK that uses the P65x launchpad and the boosterpack you mention. The documentation for TIDM-1010 was recently updated to reflect this release.  SSI is very similar to BiSS-C and the example could be adapted.

For using an absolute encoder in a solution - the only example we have is for the tmdxiddk379d and the T-format protocol. This example is also in the motor control SDK (C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_MotorControl_SDK<version>\solutions\tmdxiddk379d)
