TMS320F280039C: CLB setting warning - Pipelining is required for synchronous signals

Part Number: TMS320F280039C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Tool/software:

Hi champs,

I am asking this for our customer.

When setting CLB input, the user saw this warning on Sysconfig.

What does this mean?

Does that mean the user should "check" this Input Filter Input 0 and there is one cycle delay?

If the user suppress it, what is worst penalty?

  • Hi Wayne,

The recommendations for using synchronization and pipelining are to prevent the possibility of metastability within the CLB. Metastability is highly unlikely but some customers have observed it in the past due to not following these guidelines. Enabling pipelining and synchronization as recommended will not affect CLB functionality however some delay will be added to the time the CLB output changes state compared to if no synchronization or pipelining were enabled.

    Thank you,

    Luke
