TMS320F28P659DH-Q1: Initial steps for Programming the Chip after purchase

Hi,
We are using TMS320F28P659 for our custom board and we have some queries regarding the initial boot. As per the datasheet,

In our hardware, we are planning to fix flash boot mode always ( HIGH in gpio72 and gpio84) and boot mode switch is not available. Also we don't have USB peripheral in our custom HW. We have some queries on the initial boot

1. Assuming that after purchase, the chip will be in the Unprogrammed device condition and in the first time after powering ON , will we be able to flash via JTAG (flash boot mode) or only with USB mode.
2. Is there any procedure to follow during bring up of the chip for the first time after purchase (we don't have secure boot requirements)

You can flash the device using JTAG in CCS or the UniFlash tool, regardless of what the boot mode select pins define.

There is no particular procedure if you plan on using the default boot modes. Are there any peripherals you wish to use on the device?

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your quick response. No we are not planning to use anyother peripheral for flashing currently except jtag. But our future requirement is to flash the chip over uart using custom code and flashing the image using flash APIs without changing boot mode from HW (as we are fixing bootmode as jtag always).

Hope that is possible using FLASH APIs

For this, I recommend you refer to the Serial Flash Programming of C2000 MCU's Application Note.
