Our scenario :
Main function of the DSP controller is to handle 2 PI control loops. One for current and other for Voltage.
It gets Current and Voltage set values from the DSP controller.
It gets feedback from 20/24 bit ADC. There are 2 ADCs, one for voltage and other for Current.
Based on the reference and Feedback, PI loop calculations are done and single common Digital reference (PI loop output) is generated out of this.
