TMS320F28379D: F28379D

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Tool/software:

According to TMS320F28379D Datasheet there are around 24 channels foe ADC distributed across 4 ADC modules. But for a single ADC module it is mentioned to have 16 channels, so across 4 modules 16*4 = 64 channels should be available right? But only 24 are mentioned as ADC channels, (I know some are used to find Internal IC temperature and VREFH and VREFL, but it still won't add up) Can you help me in understanding why the number of channels are less than 64 or is there something I am missing.

  • Hello Anthony,

Every ADC module can handle 16 channels, not counting any pin restrictions.

However, to find out the total number of ADC channels available in a specific package, check out "Table 4-1. Device Comparison." In your situation:

  • Hi Masoud,

I am designing my custom board using TMS320F28379D. The F28379D has 4 ADC modules with 16 channels each, so we expected it to have a total of 4 * 16 = 64 channels. Our design requires at least 30 to 40 channels, so if only 24 channels are exposed from the F28379D, is there any provision to configure or enable the other ADC channels so that we can have more than 24 channels, or if we can't have more in this chipset. Can you suggest me a different dual core IC.

  • Hi Anthony,

You can't extend the ADC channel numbers here. I suggest you to use our F28P65 devices.

    Best Regards,

    Masoud
