Hi:

I need to use the TMS320F28P650DK for the following:

real time applications with input sample about 3.5 MSPS through the ADC, the input signal is a noisy periodic signal- assume sine wave- i need to lock it to an numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) programmed inside the DSP, also all other functions will be there ; PID and filters, so basically, it is a software implemented phase locked loop where everything is in the DSP realm, the frequency of the signal is between 20 KHz to 1MHz...

is TMS320F28P650DK suitable for this application?

If not, which DSP processor can perform?

it is possible to use external ADC and DAC too...

Also, frequency resolution should be around 0.005 Hz

TMS320f28p650dk is suitable for this application is your are looking for a 12bit accuracy input.

Yes is is possible to use an external ADC but loop speed will be dependent on the Communication interface used b/w ADC and DSP/ TMS320f28p650dk.

So, is there any code example to implement NCO on the processor, with update input (12bit) to it at 3.5 Mega input per second?

Hossam,
I would look at the adc_ex5_soc_continuous or adc_ex6_soc_continuous_dma examples in C2000Ware. This should show how to use the ADC end of conversion signals to self trigger the next ADC conversion to keep the ADC at its full sample rate.

In terms of NCO implementation, I am not aware of an example that is performing this exactly, but this https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-010938 might be a good starting point. This design has DC/AC that would need to match the frequency of the AC mains transforming the DC to AC in a solar system.

Still the AC main frequency is much less than the nco frequency needed, that is from 100KHz up to 1MHz...
