TMS320F2812: Can't Create Target Config using Blackhawk BH-USB560M since no folder nor files exist in my CCSv6.1 installation

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Tool/software:

I'm a longtime user of CCS since v3.1 and now using CCS v6.1 for an older project. I bought a Blackhawk BH-USB560M emulator and I'm tryting to setup to use it with CCS v6.1 but can't find the Blackhawk subdir in the \emulators subdir. I tried using the CCS Install New Software utility but it failed and not sure what to do. It shouldn't be this hard to setup my Target to use a standard emulator like Blackhawk. I'm using this o na Dell M6800 laptop with Windows 10, with latest updates.

Please note that I've tested it using the non CCS Blackhawk utility called BHProbe.2 and it's connecting to my target and working fine based on receivieng no errors and passed all tests from the Blackhawk utility app.

Please advise what steps I should take or where to find the instructions to setup a Target Config using Blackhawk including downloading and installing any required Blackhawk CCS files. I've contacted Blackhawk. now Corelis support to get download access to their Blackhawk-dsp.com server that should have the files. Due to changes to their website, I can't get access unless Corelis support gives me a set of login credentials for the download site and not sure if they even will.

But since their emulators were used natively in CCS v6.1, I'm hoping I can get any needed files from TI or another 3rd party.

An expedited answer would be greatly appreciated as I've been working on this for over a week now without any good results, except to know that my emulator seems to be working.

  • Kamran,

I need to check with the tools team, have you tried to use the XDS560 USB listed in the drop down (in the ccxml) even though this is showing as Spectrum Digital?

I believe that the XDS560 driver should be generic across emulators, but thought this was worth a try.

    Best,

    Matthew

  • Yes, I did try the XDS560 but it doesn't work.

But after digging very deep and getting assistance from Blackhawk support, it seems the reason the Blackhawk Emulators aren't listed and the Emu Pack can't be added to my CCSv6.1 install is because I'm using Windows 10, 64-bit version and im told it only loads with 32-bit versions of Windows.

I found a workaround by installing a new CCSv6.1 install and that does load the Blackhawk emu files despite 64-bit Windows, so long as Blackhawk is selected at the time of initial install, but i get an error trying to add it after initial installation in my 64-bit Windows.

So, problem now solved. Thanks for your suggestion.
