TMS320F28379S: CAN FIFO does not act like a FIFO

Tool/software:

C2000Ware_5_04_00_00 does not have an example using the F28379S CAN with message objects configured as a receive FIFO.

Please provide example code of configuring 5 message objs as a FIFO and then receiving the data that comes in continuously from CAN bus.

From reading the tech ref manual of F28379S I can't see how this might work like a FIFO (head/tail, push/pop, 1st in/1st out).

Is the manual wrong in calling this setup a FIFO?  Seems more like a simple buffer.
