C2000WARE: F2833x libraries availability for EABI

Part Number: C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Will the F2833x Flash API (and other libraries) be available as EABI object files? Alternatively, could I get a copy of the source code for the Flash API so I can build it using EABI?

We currently have a custom production programming scheme that handles several architectures with ELF files and we are looking to move our F28335 projects to the EABI format to have a more streamlined production.

  • Jesus,

There are no plans to port the existing F2833x libs to EABI.  I will ask about the source here, but we typically don't provide that as any changes to the timings of this code could have impact on the flash programming execution.

    Best,
    Matthew

  • Hi Matthew,

Thanks for getting back to me. Understood and agreed on the potentially detrimental ramifications of changing the code.

Porting the library to EABI would seem like a good move, in my opinion. The F28335 is still very popular and in many industries it is irreplaceable. Seems this specific topic is also popular within the E2E forums: porting the library to EABI would breathe new life into this MCU and allow some of us working on new, mission-critical applications, to reap the benefits of the latest TI compilers as well as unifying development and production practices with other TI platforms (MSP430, for example). What would it take for TI to reconsider? Relaxed

  • Jesus,

Let me fwd this to the Flash SW team so they can follow up.

    Best,
    Matthew

  • Hi Jesus,

I will discuss this internally with my team.
