TMS320F280038C-Q1: Pull-up or pull-down of ERRORSTS pin

Part Number: TMS320F280038C-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello, TI team.

I have some questions about ERRORSTS pin of TMS320F280038C-Q1.

From " TMS320F28003x Real-Time Microcontrollers Technical Reference Manual", the description of error pin is "If the state of the chosen ERRORSTS pin during power-up is important, an external pull-down should be connected to the pin." as below.

I have some queries about the sentence above.

1. Why ERRORSTS pin should be external pull down even when this pin operates as Active Low?

2. We are considering ERRORSTS pin at MCU pin map.

If we try to implement ERRORSTS pin as ACTIVE LOW, is it ok to connect this pin to external pull-up ?

I need to get clarification to design schematic of circuit.

I'd appreciate it if you guys give me some answers.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

Seungeun Lee.

  • Hello Seungeun,

The ERRORSTS pin stays in a tri-state until the chip's power rails hit the lower operational limit. Since the ERRORSTS pin is active-low by default, if you want to keep an eye on its state during power-up, you should add an external pull-down.

Also, the ERRORSTS pin in the F28003 series isn't configurable (it’s set to active-low), so using an external pull-down is the way to go.

    Best Regards,
    Masoud
