TMS320F28P659SH-Q1: Complementary high resolution PWM

Part Number: TMS320F28P659SH-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

Asking assistance with high resolution PWM with complementary PWM on channels A and B and 20 to 50 ns of dead band using TMS320F28P659SH-Q1.

When running a PWM period of 4us, need to have between 20 and 50ns of deadband between the A and B (upper and lower GANS).

Can you confirm if this is possible? Don't mind operating in up/down count mode with A and B independent and control the dead band if that's the only way to get it to work.

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Yes it possible to use deadband HR for finer delay at 250kHz frequencies

    Thanks

  • Hello Prathan,

Thank you. Customer has follow up.

With dead band and complementary output? I can get it to work but only of B is not inverted.

I have been trying to set this up for 3 days now and can't get it to work please can you specify which modes I should be using or point me to some example code that achieves this.

    73,
    Archie A.

  • Hi,

Do you want a complementary with deadband HR ? I can see if I can provide a simple example project with that after you confirm.

    Thanks

  • Hello Prarthan,

    Good day.

Customer needs further information as follows:

"What mode do I need to operate in.
Which one if any of your examples demonstrates high resolution PWM with complementary PWM on channels A and B?

I cannot get this to work in any mode so far.
I can get it to work for the A channel , but not the B channel in complrmentary mode.

I would prefer to use complemtentary mode and deadband if posible but if now I am happy to try up-down mode - and have A and B as independent channels and control.
But so far, I have failed to get any of these to work for both A and B with B the complement of A and deadband."

    Thank you.

    73,
    Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

I have modified the example to show AHC (active high complementary on EPWM2A/B) with DBHR.

Please see the attached project and let me know asap if anything else is required or we can close this query
