TMS320F28388D: MPOST impact

Part Number: TMS320F28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65313-Q1,

Tool/software:

Hello Support,

what are the impacts of MPOST?

We have activated the MPOST in OTP, it is configured to run with 110 Mhz, we observed a strange behavior related to error pin status. i can explain the setup of our HW:

we have the TMS320F28388D chip and an external Watchdog chip TPS65313-Q1, the external watchdog is able to reset the CPU via XRSn pin.

We have a test, which runs only at power on reset, to check if the external watchdog can really reset the CPU, it is done by forcing the ERROR bit in ERRORSTSFRC register to be 1.

What we have observed: if the CPU has the MPOST activated in OTP, the reset test fails every time. If the CPU does not have the MPOST activated in OTP, the reset test passes every time.

Can you please provide hint why it is so?

Thanks.

Regards,

Charles
