In our design, we are using the TMS320F28P659DK-Q1 controller and intend to use the CAN boot mode. However, our design employs a crystal oscillator (XO) as the external reference clock input. The datasheet specifies that a crystal (XTAL) should be installed in the application when using the CAN boot mode.
Could you please confirm whether the use of an XTAL is mandatory for CAN boot mode operation, or if an XO can be used as an alternative?
