TMS320F28P659DH-Q1: ECC interrupt is trigger when use Fapi_initializeAPI function

Hi experts,

Good day! I am asking for customer.

My customer wants to erase and program flash when ecc occurs. So she use "ECC test mode enable" to flip one bit and wants to initial flash api througn erase flash after enable the test mode.

She found that if enable the "ECC test mode enable", once she call "Fapi_initializeAPI" function, then will jump to NMI interrupt.

However, the ECC interrupt should trigger only with a flash read. So she wants to know why the use of Fapi_initializeAPI function will also cause an interrupt ECC interrupt? In the Fapi_initializeAPI function, will the flash be read?

Could you help to check this?

Hi Kita,

In "Fapi_initializeAPI" api we read FRI registers and set the RWAIT. Is customer is calling "Fapi_initializeAPI" function before enabling the Ecc test mode?

If she is calling before enabling it no need to "Fapi_initializeAPI" again. In case user updates the frequency then only user should reinitialize using "Fapi_initializeAPI". Otherwise, calling once at poweron is suffice.

Yes the customer has enabled the ECC test mode before calling "Fapi_initializeAPI". Then she found after calling "Fapi_initializeAPI" function, then will jump to NMI interrupt. So she wants to know why "Fapi_initializeAPI" will cause an ECC interrupt? In the Fapi_initializeAPI function, will the flash be read?

Hi Kita,

ECC-check is enabled at reset. Hence, if ECC is not programmed, ECC errors will occur. Ask customer to call "Fapi_initializeAPI" function first and then enable ecc test mode.

I want to know if a flash bit has been flipped, after reset and enable ecc(ecc interrupt is enabled) , will CPU jump to ecc error interrupt automatically? And if a flash bit has been flipped, when call the Fapi_initializeAPI, will CPU jump to ecc interrupt?
