TMS320F28384D: TEST CONNECTION FAILED WITH XDS200 DEBUG PROB

I am trying to work on TMS320F28384D and i am using XDS200 debug prob to flash the dsp.

However, the test connection in ccs is failed with the error message such as:

-----[An error has occurred and this utility has aborted]--------------------

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-232' (0xffffff18).
The title is 'SC_ERR_PATH_DR_MEASURE'.

The explanation is:
The measured length of the JTAG DR data path is invalid.
This indicates that an error exists in the link-delay or scan-path.

I updated the ccs, installed xds emulation software but it doesn't help.

Do you have any idea about this error and how to fix it?

Hi,

This error is typically reported when the JTAG signals have poor signal quality.

I have a few clarifying questions:

What XDS200 debug probe are you using?
Does this happen on other F28384D devices?
Can you share your target configuration file (.ccxml)?
Can you verify that proper power is being delivered to the device?
How far is the debug probe from the device?
Can you try lowering TCK?

Hello Matt,

Here is my response to your questions:

What XDS200 debug probe are you using? spectrum digital; it is the one shown in the video in the link software-dl.ti.com/.../emu_xds200.html
Does this happen on other F28384D devices? yes
Can you share your target configuration file (.ccxml)?
Can you verify that proper power is being delivered to the device? it is ok
How far is the debug probe from the device? <50cm
Can you try lowering TCK? currently it is 10MHz? i tried with 8Mhz. but it didn't help

Do you have another debug probe (doesn't have to be XDS200) to confirm it's not a probe issue?

Please see the buffered case section of the hardware design guide.

"If the distance between the Debug Probe and the device is greater than 6 inches, it is recommended that JTAG signals be buffered.."

Hi Matt,

Sorry for my late.

I found out the cause, i use same jtag for dsp & netx, that why the message error is always there during debug.
