TMS320F28388D: Firmware Update via EtherCAT FOE – Feasibility and Implementation Guidance

Part Number: TMS320F28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Hello,

I would like to inquire about the technical application of your DSP product, the TMS320F28388D.

Specifically, I am considering using the FOE (File Access over EtherCAT) feature of EtherCAT to update the firmware directly to the DSP's Flash memory.

Could you please confirm whether this is technically feasible? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide detailed guidance or example materials on how to implement it.

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi,

Yes we have 'f2838x_cpu1_foe_download_solution' and 'f2838x_cm_foe_download' example projects in C2000WARE.

You can follow along with the F2838x EtherCAT_Slave_Controller_User_Guide.pdf.  Stack needs to be generated with SSC Tool.

By the way, the example only shows how to get the image onto the C2000 device. You would still need to complete the firmware upgrade process, which we have separate SW examples for (so they could be combined).

    Best,

    Kevin
