TMS320F28388S: Is there a way to make a failure in the pre-build step fail the build?

Greetings,

We are seeing, "makefile:406: recipe for target 'pre-build' failed". We believe we know what the issue is and can solve it. But the compiler ignored it and continued with the build. Is there a way to tell the compiler to stop on this type of error?

Hi Ed,

I'm not sure this is possible since the pre (and post) build steps are pretty independent of the project build. CCS will simply pass the pre-build string to the system console and then kicks off the project build. It does not check the results of the pre-build step. I'll confirm with engineering but I believe this is the case.

This is indeed the case.

There is an existing ticket to improve pre/post build step integration with CCS: https://sir.ext.ti.com/jira/browse/EXT_EP-12505

What is your use case? Is your pre-build step generating a source file that the main project is dependent on?
