TMS320F28377D: Memory specified in datasheet does not match the calculation

Part Number: TMS320F28377D

Tool/software:

Hi,

During the memory usage analysis for my project, I observed that the memory specified on page-1 in the datasheet (SPRS880P) is:

172KB or 204KB

I assume 172KB is per CPU and 204KB is for both the CPUs.

The memory map says:

  • Mx RAM = 4KB
  • Lx RAM = 24KB
  • Dx RAM = 8KB
  • GSx RAM = 128KB
  • CPU1-2 MSG RAM = 2KB
  • CPU2-1 MSG RAM = 2KB

Total Memory:

  • 2 CPUs = 2 X 4KB + 2 X 24KB + 2 X 8KB + 128KB + 2KB + 2KB = 204KB (Matches the specified value)
  • 1 CPU = 4KB + 24KB + 8KB + 128KB + 2KB = 166KB (Does NOT match the specified 172KB)
    Even if I include 2KB of CPU2-1MSG RAM, it will be, = 166KB + 2KB = 168KB (still does NOT match 172KB)

Could you please help me find out how 172KB is calculated?

Thank you

Gobind Singh

  • I think I understood the calculation, my initial assumption was incorrect.

172KB is for lower end devices where GS12, GS13, GS14 and GS15 memories were not applicable. Each of these memories are 8KB, total 32KBs.

    So 172KB + 32KB = 204KB

    This solves.
