TMS320F28384D: Inquiry about Security Chip Integration with C2000 Series

Part Number: TMS320F28384D

Tool/software:

Hello,

i am currently conducting research in the field of power electronics and using the C2000 series to drive power converters.

For comparison, Infineon’s Aurix MCU can be paired with the OPTIGA Trust M security chip to enable functions such as board serial number management, maintenance tracking, and secure sales record management.

I would like to ask whether the C2000 series has any built-in support for similar security features, or if there are any external compatible security chips available for use with C2000.

The mainly application is an automotive power converter.

Thank you

  • Hello,

I'm not sure these features are supported but I'll reassign this thread to one of our C29 security experts who may be able to confirm.

    Thank you,

    Luke

  • Hello,

Our F28x MCUs do not have built-in security features beyond code protection using the DCSM.

Our new F29x MCUs do feature a built-in HSM with full-featured cryptographic acceleration, life cycle management, secure storage, and will ISO 21434-certified at RTM. They also have an advanced run-time security architecture with real-time application task isolation. It is possible to implement secure applications on this device. The details of system application requirements might need some further discussion -- I would suggest reaching out to a TI sales office if possible.

I would also note that there is no restriction in pairing our MCUs with a third-party security element chip such as those supplied by Infineon, NXP etc. Customers have done so with our MCUs in various application use cases in the past, including F28x.

    Best regards,
    Ibukun
