INSTASPIN-BLDC: Speed Loop PI Controller Tuning

Part Number: INSTASPIN-BLDC

Tool/software:

In the user manual SPRUHJ1I, Chapter 11: Tuning PI Regulators, I was wondering if we have a parallel form of PI controllers and a friction component also included in the transfer function (1/Js + B), then how do we find the gains for Speed Loop? Could you please help me understand this? I'd greatly appreciate any guidance or clarification. Thanks in advance!

  • As shown in the user's guide you mentioned above. The gains of speed and current loop regulators can be calculated per the motor parameters, but you still need to tune these gains according to the system. The formula and more details you can find in the user's guide, and you can also find the detailed description on some technical website. The technical background is the same for motor control loop with different algorithms.
